A first-generation entrepreneur, who did not have the formal knowledge to run a business, he began a career in the hotel industry. Not being satisfied with work nature, he moved to start a catering business, called Kter's concept of hot homemade food packed and served at the office table at lunchtime.
As the partnership didn’t work well, he discontinued the business and took sale and marketing role in various companies selling Pepsi to Kurlon doormat to courier to Onida Television. Later in 1994, he joined hands with his brothers to form A&M Communication which initially came with a publication known as wedding planner and later diversified to start Justdial - India’s number one local search engine, which soon got listed on the stock exchange in 2013.
With over 26 years of experience, he became expertise in the fields of business development, strategic planning, business expansion, operations, and execution. During his journey, he always worked in uplifting and developing his employees and customers with various skills and techniques. He has mentored and played an advisory role to about 300 plus companies and help them to build their company from ground zero to top level. Each of these businesses different from the other. He has closely worked with start-ups and established enterprises bringing innovative products to the market and bridges the gap between executive and technical stakeholders. Today, Mr. Ramani Iyer is an angel investor and mentors various SME’s across several industries, including media and entertainment, manufacturing and IOT.
Ramani is also the Co-Founder of the Jade Plant Ventures movie and short film production unit. His wife, Dr. Shilpa Ramesh Ramani is not only his life partner; she is also a partner in all his start-up venture. Mr. Ramani is also a father of two very talented and smart daughters.
