Purushottam Singhal, CEO, Transport Wings (Cal) Private Limited is today’s one of the most admirable & eminent name in the Logistics Industry of India. In the year 1979 Purushottam was born in one of the very reputed business family of Calcutta and had a very good and privileged life ahead of him. His childhood days have been amazing where he was loved by his parents and five elder sisters and a younger brother.
As years passed by Purushottam emerged as a good student during his academic years but as destiny would have it, the decade of 1990 to 2000 had many difficult and challenging times in store for him. During this time his father Shri Punam Chand Singhal ji had health issues; heart attack and a bypass surgery in 1990.His health gradually deteriorated after he had a paralysis attack in 1994. His health did not improve in spite of all efforts for doctors and family and in year 2000 he left for his heavenly abode.
This had a deep impact on this mind and his perspective towards life... but such a fighter he has been throughout that he faced all the challenges with a strong mind and good values which he inherited from his family.
While his father was fighting with is health issues, Purushottam at the age of 11 took the most important decision of his life which was very unlikely for any growing child of his age could even think of. He decided to shift is mind from the ambitions of becoming a doctor and decided to join the family business to support his father and family’s future in 1990. Simultaneously he also perused his education with good academic results.
Though his decision to step into his family business was sudden but he kept a calm and composed mind to make his vision very clear and simple. He did not day dream but he chased his dreams with his honesty, hard work and very smartly by introducing the latest technology into the functioning of the transport business in 1994; which at that time none of the transport Companies even thought of.... He introduced the IT technology in the customer service department of TWI.
In his own Company he started his professional journey as a Trainee to understand the nuance of the trade and simultaneously managed the Team like a leader. This trait of his personality gradually made him visible and the Trade started to recognise him as an emerging professional.
Throughout he was been guided by his Mother Shrimati Radha Devi Singhal ji who has been his mentor and his real strength.
In 1997 soon after being appointed as the Director of the Company at the age of 18 years, the Company had to face a major crisis due some unpredictable circumstances. He managed to overcome this in a very professional way and soon got things back on track.
After this there was no looking back and he expanded the Company’s presence from PAN India towards being Global.
Apart from being a leader in transportation industry, he moved forward to diversify the business into Trading, Consultancy, IT solutions and International Logistics under the TWI Group of Companies.
He has also been actively participating in social welfare and contribution to the Society by being associated with various charitable activities as a trustee in Sri Agarsen International Hospital, Delhi, as a founder trustee in Aggarwa Dham, Sonipat, NGO –RP Foundation and various other social welfare schemes.
All through his journey from a school boy to a MBA graduate and to an aspiring Professional he has received immense support and love from his Parents, Wife, Sisters, younger Brother, 3 lovely kids, lots of Friends and Business Associates.
